Rachel and Bob were married on 5.18.18 at the Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill on Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. It was a gorgeous spring day on the lake!
Rachel had been a server for the Lake Chalet in Oakland for a year or so when Bobby joined as a sous chef. They exchanged many words across the kitchen expediting line (both good and bad) and a wink and a smile was thrown in once or twice. For the two of them, going to work wasn’t so bad as they had each other for a distraction. Their relationship grew from there, as they quickly became best friends.
Fast forward to five years later, where Rachel dragged Bobby to her hometown of Hudson, OH for Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving, the two of them decided to go for a stroll through the downtown. Unexpectedly, Bob got down on one knee in the gazebo on the green and proposed. Before he could finish his sentence Rachel was already screaming “Yes!” And that is how they got here today.
We began the day at the Marriott Oakland City Center and photographed the girls and the guys getting ready. This group has no shortage of character and it shows in the photographs.
It takes a team to make a wedding day like this. Here is ours…
We had a rockin’ wedding on the bay last weekend with Kumi & Tyler. Seriously, the boat was rocking like crazy and the dance floor was hilarious! That didn’t stop anyone from having a great time though. Kumi and Tyler were couldn’t have been happier.
The wedding was held onboard the Sunset Hornblower Yacht out of Berkeley. The Hornblower crew, their service, and their food is always fantastic!
We love weddings on the bay! And Hornblower Cruises is the very best way to get married on the bay 🙂 We had the honor of photographing the wedding of Jessica and Josh recently and here are some highlights below. Congratulations, Jess & Josh!
San Francisco City Hall weddings are always beautiful. The building and the neighborhood have so much to offer visually and are so iconic of San Francisco. For the wedding of Saba and Sia, we photographed in and around city hall and then took them on a wonderful city tour for photos all over town. We went to the Palace of Fine Arts, the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, and Baker Beach. What a beautiful day with a beautiful couple!
A week ago, Susan and Tom were on the beach in Hawaii, on a pre-honeymoon honeymoon I guess, when Susan noticed a San Francisco City Hall wedding had just posted. She hadn’t yet thought about getting a photographer for their upcoming elopement so she reached out to me immediately. I was available on her wedding day of Tuesday, 4.18.17 and here you go!
We photographed an intimate wedding at Noe’s Nest Bed and Breakfast in San Francisco for Rene & Joe. They are both from Saint Louis, Missouri but wanted to have their ceremony in San Francisco. (excellent idea!) After the ceremony the party moved to Finnegans Wake in Cole Valley. A very cool bar loved by many locals and travellers alike.
San Francisco wedding photographer, Jim Vetter Photography recently had the awesome honor of photographing the engagement session of Monica and Eusong in two separate iconic San Francisco locations. We first did engagement photos at AT&T Park – home of the San Francisco Giants. We then went to the west edge of San Francisco to make more engagement photos at the cliffs over Sutro Baths. Check out the highlights slideshow…
Monica and Eusong obtained exclusive access to the ballpark just so we could photograph their engagement session there. We were the only people in the entire park with the exception of a few security staff, some guys tending the field, and one Hunter Pence.
We were able to photograph in the dugouts and around the outside of the field as well as in some of the suites above the first baseline.
We had perfect weather for this session. All the way through to sunset, it was really pleasant near the ocean.
We never actually made it all the way down to the ruins of the old Sutro Baths. We started at the upper parking lot and worked our way down the paths, stopping at the amazing spots you see here below…
The Bently Reserve has always been one of my favorite venues in San Francisco. Its classic architecture and grand appearance make it insanely elegant – especially when the right care goes into the event design and planning. This wedding was planned by Solmaz at Pretty Occasions and was really done right! We had such a great time photographing this wedding! Erica, Robert, and their wild wedding party were a blast to work with. They made our job easy by being so fun and so beautiful as well. Just look at Erica! Her superb hair and makeup was done by Angela Kim.
I was introduced to Erica and Robert by the amazing wedding planner, Solmaz Burke of Pretty Occasions in San Francisco. Erica & Robert were planning a September wedding at one of my favorite SF wedding venues, The Bently Reserve. I was very excited to be chosen to photograph their big day!
The couple really wanted to have a metropolitan feel to their wedding as well as their engagement. I suggested that we have the engagement session downtown and make use of the beautiful architecture of the Embarcadero Center and they enthusiastically agreed.
When we met in front of Embarcadero Four I had the wonderful surprise to see that they had just adopted a crazy-cute french bulldog puppy on their way to meet me that afternoon! He didn’t even have a name yet but he was full of personality and kind of ran the show that day. Can you believe how beautiful this puppy is?
In my regular style, we wandered around the Embarcadero in search of great spots to shoot. We were gifted with beautiful light everywhere and had a fantastic time. The Embarcaderos have really cool walkways that spiral up through multiple levels. The next few images were taken on that walkway.
Of course, we had to jump on a San Francisco cable car at the bottom of California Street. What could be more San Francisco than this 🙂
I LOVE to photograph in the city with my super wide 14-24mm lens! I’m able to capture the towering buildings that make downtown San Francisco so cool. This lens also makes people look really tall and thin when used correctly. People seem to like that for some reason.
I had been wanting to do this show below for some time. Erica and Robert were down for it so I set it up and we braved the cold air just long enough to get this awesome shot of Erica and Robert frozen in time while the city zips by all around them.
I’d like to thank Erica & Robert for being such fun people to photograph. I’d also like to thank Solmaz for introducing me to this wonderful couple.
The wedding is just around the corner. More photos to come…
