Frequently Asked Questions

We don’t want our wedding to look natural and not stiff and posed. Do you do that kind of photography?

We don’t want you to look stiff and posed in your wedding photos – absolutely NOT!  This is why we go out of our way to help you feel comfortable with us and with the camera. The engagement session is such a valuable experience in putting you at ease in front of the camera. This is why we include it in all collections and highly recommend it.  If you are comfortable with your photographer, you will not look stiff.

To avoid being too “posey” we provide direction instead of posing. There is a subtle difference between the two. “Direction” is asking you to do something in front of the camera that will look natural. It may sometimes feel like you’re posing but you can trust us to make you look amazing.

How long does it take to get our photos?

We have delivered proofs within 2 weeks of every wedding.  Usually our clients meet us to review the proofs upon their return from the honeymoon. If the client is quick to choose images for the wedding album, they will usually get the finished book within 2-3 months of the wedding date.

Wedding photography is more expensive than we expected. How do we get comfortable with this expense?

Wedding photography certainly can feel expensive when compared to every day expenses.  However, your wedding photography is anything but an everyday expense.  Your wedding photography will happen on one day only and you will not have the opportunity to do it over again.  A more important price comparison is to look at your other wedding budget items and compare the relative importance of photography.  Remember that your photography is the only think left after the wedding and you will either enjoy it or regret it for the rest of your life.

I want to get the best deal possible. Shouldn’t I do a lot of shopping around?

You should certainly check out multiple photographers’ work so you have a good idea what you really like.  However, searching for the best deal will likely lead to a lower quality of service.

There is enough competition in the wedding photography world to keep everyone’s prices quite competitive. There are certainly lower price alternatives to Jim Vetter Photography. But, there is no one else just like us.  If you know you like our work and you like Jim, why exert the effort and precious time to keep looking?  Someone else may book us while you’re looking around.

What if we don’t like our photos?

We pour our heart and soul into creating the most beautiful and moving image that we can. We have never had a client tell us they don’t like their photos.  We are happy to show you full wedding proof sets if you need further assurance. We even have a satisfaction promise that refunds your fees if you are not satisfied.

We haven’t looked at enough photographers yet. We’re going to keep looking around.

There are thousands of wedding photographers out there.  You could spend all your time researching and looking at them but why exert the effort doing that if you’ve just found one you really like?  If you really like a photographer, then it’s likely that other people do as we’ll and they will probably book up fast.

We have plenty of time before the wedding. We’re going to wait a while before booking our photographer.

Waiting is risky.  At any time we could be booked by someone else on your wedding day.   Go with your gut.  How do you feel about us?   Why not give yourself one less thing to worry about  and book us now?

How do we know if we can trust you to do a great job?

We love what we do and we take our job very seriously.  We have a great deal if respect for how important this event is to you.  We need your glowing reviews and referrals to be successful.  It is in our best interest to give you the best we possibly can.  Please read our reviews and endorsements.  Ask to speak with other clients if you wish. You may also ask to see full wedding day coverage in addition to the portfolio images on our website.

We have a friend (or family member) who has offered to shoot our wedding.

Be very careful.  There are so many reasons that this is a risky idea.  Is this person a full time wedding photographer?  Do they have professional grade equipment?  Do they have backup cameras and lenses?  Do they know how to photograph a wedding?  Are they insured in case a guest trips over them and sues you?  Are you sure you want to risk your ongoing relationship with this person if they produce an epic fail for you? There is no do-over of your wedding day.  You get one shot at getting it right.  Please trust your wedding to an independent professional.
